WLC Engineering and Surveying was hired by the Town of Mills to provide design services to replace a watermain in the intersection of Wyoming Boulevard and US Hwy 20/26. Consecutively, WYDOT was creating design plans to widen the road significantly. These plans required the waterline to be moved to accommodate for the new and upsized storm sewer. Additionally, the existing waterline had experienced a break that never got repaired and was isolated through valving. Therefore, when WYDOT’s widening project came to fruition, the Town moved forward with replacing 800 LF of 8” watermain. Due to an already congested intersection, coordination during the design was crucial to ensure all utilities were installed with adequate space between them. The replacement of the waterline allowed for additional connections in the water system resulting in increased fire flows in the area.
