In 2011, the Montesorri School of Casper purchased land and an existing building in Casper’s historic Old Yellowstone District with the intent of renovating it into a new school to meet the high demands for new students. Prior to design, WLC used a High Definition Scanner (HDS) to collect and prepare a high accuracy/high precision 3D point cloud for the existing facility. At the time of the HDS data collection the facility was still in use by a lease tenant. This was not an issue, as the HDS equipment was able to collect vast amounts of data quickly and efficiently without interfering with the daily activities of the lease holders business. The HDS equipment was also well suited to the site, as the building had many architectural features and was located very near overhead power lines and other difficult to survey infrastructure. Upon completion of the scans, a base topographic and planimetric drawing was prepared for Civil, Architectural and Structural engineering design tasks. In addition to the HDS work, WLC was responsible for preparing the site plan for the new school. Site plan design included drainage, water, wastewater and sanitary infrastructure
