The Town of Mills hired WLC to provide grants writing, civil engineering, and construction contract administration for the installation of radio readouts on the Town’s 1,600 water meters and to coordinate and oversee the purchase of meter reading equipment and software. Prior to this project, the Town of Mills would bill for water and sewer use on a quarterly basis as many of the meters are located within areas that are not easily accessible such as beneath mobile homes, in basement of homes and other hard to access locations. The completion of this project allows the Town to read the meters with a radio transponder without having to access the meter directly. As such, the Town is able to read the meters on a monthly basis. The project was funded from Clean Water State Revolving Fund. Seventy five percent of the project cost was in the form of a grant and 25% of the project cost was in the form of a 0% interest loan for a term of 20 years.
