The Town of Mills, Wyoming hired WLC to provide grants writing and administration services for the Mills River Front Feasibility Study project. WLC conducted research, wrote and submitted a Planning Grant Application to the Wyoming Business Council. The grant application was approved, and the project was completed in 2016. WLC also coordinated and participated in the stakeholder meetings for the project providing critical input as the Town Engineer and Planner. Through a 2014 Community Assessment, the Town of Mills learned the community felt: the Town does not have enough services including commercial, retail and professional businesses forcing residents to spend their money in and travel to the neighboring communities; the Town lacks safe, youth recreation facilities and amenities; community members saw the access to the North Platte River as one of the Town’s biggest assets and one that was not taken advantage of; and the need to identify an area to develop and serve as a main street or downtown. In response, the Town of Mills purchased an undeveloped piece of river front property, adjacent to the existing land they own that houses their old Town Maintenance Building in hopes of developing the site to provide additional community amenities or services. The total area is 10 acres. WLC developed and distributed an RFP for the Mills River Front Feasibility Project. Tallgrass Landscape Architecture was hired to lead the project.
