WLC Engineering and Surveying was hired by the Town of Bar Nunn to provide roads and stormwater improvements in a portion of the community. The project included adding or replacing 3,000 linear feet of storm pipe, 4,000 linear feet of curb and gutter, 27,000 square yards of asphalt, and 2,400 linear feet of trench drain. The initial problems included streets designed with inappropriate grade to handle large amounts of water resulting in poor drainage and standing water; homes located at or below street elevations causing driveway drainage problems and water accumulation; and other flooding concerns. The infrastructure improvements have benefited the community in several ways. The asphalt overlays forced drainage to the opposite side of the street; proper drainage routes alleviate standing water from residential driveways; storm sewer piping and gutters transition drainage to lagoon; and the improvements minimized flooding concerns.
