In life, learning is a journey that never truly ends. For long-time WLC employee, Mark Johnson, this proves true after recently earning his Associate of Science in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) along with the accompanying GIS certification. This accomplishment is not only a testament to his dedication to personal and professional growth but an asset to WLC’s capabilities.

Mark is a CADD Technician and has been with WLC for 15 years. His experience lies in drafting and design, various versions of Auto CAD, Revit, Solid Works, and GIS. With his new qualifications and education, Mark brings enhanced expertise to WLC, equipping our team with additional and advanced skills in analyzing geographical data.

“Getting the degree and certificate allows WLC to continue to provide GIS services for Mills and Evansville as part of the Natrona Regional Geospatial Cooperative (NRGC) as well as continued GIS support for several other client projects. On a personal level, the degree has expanded my knowledge of the industry and provided me with another tool to be successful in survey drafting and GIS mapping,” says Mark.

To obtain the GIS degree, Mark completed a minimum of 32 credits in the major requirements, in the five core GIS classes including Map Use and Analysis, Advanced GIS, and Management and Implementation of GIS, to name a few. By completing the core classes, Mark was also able to automatically earn his GIS certificate.

All of us at WLC are proud of Mark’s continued learning and his commitment to furthering his education in GIS. His accomplishment demonstrates the importance of staying at the forefront of this industry, ensuring that WLC continues to deliver innovative and precise GIS solutions for our clients.
