In 2012, WLC was hired by Amundsen and RB+B Architects to provide survey and civil engineering design and construction services on the Hanna Elementary School. Services included utility design, developing a drainage study, DEQ permitting, construction administration on civil components, and construction surveying. The biggest challenge on this project was tying the new elementary school into the adjacent and formerly separate gymnasium. The owner’s surveyors did not have sufficient data to properly tie-in the new structure. WLC’s surveyors and engineers were able to obtain additional corner and wall survey points to quickly modify the design in the middle of construction. This quick response eliminated delays in the construction process. The community of Hanna can now enjoy this updated, energy efficient school.
