WLC ENGINEERING, SURVEYING AND PLANNING AWARDED TWO NEW PROJECTS
Materials Testing and Civil Engineering Departments Beginning Work on New Projects Immediately

CASPER, Wyo., December 15, 2009 – WLC Engineering, Surveying and Planning, a Wyo.-based full-service civil and geotechnical engineering, surveying, materials testing, planning, grantwriting, and GIS firm, today announces two new engagements. WLC will provide materials testing on the Top of the World Wind Energy project and civil engineering design services on Enzi Drive in Gillette.

“We’re definitely excited to be winning projects in these lean times,” said Shawn Gustafson, corporate vice president and community development division manager for WLC Engineering, Surveying and Planning. “Our team is talented and competitive. They’re winning these projects by going the extra mile for their clients and carrying on the tradition of excellence that WLC is known for.”

WLC was hired by Wanzek Construction, a N.D.-based heavy industrial contractor, to provide materials testing services including moisture density testing, gradations proofrolling at tower sites and other services to control and assure quality of the Top of the World Wind Energy project. The project is located north of Glenrock, Wyo. and scheduled for completion in November 2011. PacifiCorp has a long-term agreement in place with Duke Energy, the owner and operator of the wind farm, to purchase the energy from the project. The materials testing team has worked on several wind energy projects in the past including their recent services on the Campbell Hill Windpower Project and are very proficient with the stringent materials testing requirements for wind farms.

The City of Gillette hired WLC for civil engineering design services on the Enzi Drive Widening project. WLC’s services include providing engineering design to widen Enzi Drive from a 3-lane to 5-lane section and a detached pedestrian pathway following the corridor as well as visual enhancements to improve safety, functionality and beautify this busy gateway into the City of Gillette. Storm drainage plans will include an evaluation of Low Impact Development (LID) features to better facilitate environmental stewardship. The project is approximately 1 mile from Donkey Creek to the Southern Drive Intersection and will provide the community with better traffic movement through the rapidly expanding southern part of town.

WLC was awarded these projects in November of 2009. Once contracts were signed, work began immediately.
