In true end-of-summer tradition, we held the 2026 Longevity Awards, the annual event that brings the WLC team together to celebrate our employees and their hard work and dedication as they reach career milestones. Each person marking milestones in five-year increments with WLC receives a Longevity Award. The award shows our appreciation and the incredible value we place on our employees. This year, we are celebrating:

• Matt Williams, PE, Owner & Project Manager, 20 years
• Brad Holwegner, PE, Owner & Project Manager, 20 years
• Rose Velasquez, Lab Manager & Senior Materials Testing Technician, 20 years
• Paul Svenson, PLS, Project Manager, 35 years
• Jason Greer, Senior CADD Technician, 35 years
• Darlette Schmidt, Office Manager, 15 years with WLC, 40 years including RJS (WLC acquired RJS in 2012)

To celebrate the Longevity Awards, our team spent the lunch hour enjoying good food and great company. During the luncheon, we also celebrated our interns and bid them farewell as they take their next steps this fall. This summer, WLC hosted five interns:

Jace Brezina

Jace returned to WLC for his third summer as an intern. He currently attends the University of Wyoming and is set to graduate in May 2027 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a land surveying certificate. During his internship, Jace expanded his land surveying experience, including construction staking, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, and topographic surveys, which will support him as he pursues professional engineering licensure. Jace enjoyed the Gateway West project most, where he rode UTVs in the mountains for a few weeks and took in scenery he otherwise would not have seen.

“What I liked best about my internship at WLC was the company’s culture and people,” Jace shares. “Everybody at the company is very friendly and really enjoyable to work with, and they have also taught me a lot.”

Tayton Williams

Tayton is a Casper College student, graduating in May 2027 with an associate degree in business administration and economics. Afterward, Tayton will attend UW to pursue a degree in accounting, after which she will earn her CPA, CFI, and CFE, with the goal of becoming a forensic accountant. This summer, Tayton gained real-world accounting experience and worked with great people at WLC.

“The part I have enjoyed most is the accounts payable side of things,” says Tayton. “From receiving invoices, entering them, and printing checks. The experience and hands-on work I gained will help set me up for success in my future career.”

Margaret Boyd

Margaret is another intern from Casper College who spent the summer with WLC. She is currently pursuing an Occupational Therapy Assistant degree and expects to graduate in spring of 2028. During her internship, Margaret enjoyed the variety of tasks and skills that she learned, including concrete testing, equipment management, and office management. Logging and breaking concrete cylinders gave Margaret an opportunity to practice organization and communicate results with project managers and clients.

“The experience that I gained working at WLC that I will use in the future is office management skills. I was able to experience how to communicate with clients effectively and best support their questions, and organize documents and files,” shares Margaret.

Dixon Reid

Dixon is a student at the University of Wyoming studying physics and land surveying and is set to graduate in May 2027. This summer, Dixon appreciated everyone’s willingness to support him as an intern, answer questions, and include him in the work whenever possible. His favorite project was staking property corners and right-of-way with another fellow intern. Dixon shared how he enjoyed driving a side-by-side in the middle of nowhere between Rawlins and Saratoga.

Dixon says, “My internship with WLC taught me about the surveying field and will inform my decision to pursue it as a career.”

Gavin McEndree

Gavin also interned with WLC in 2026 and is a student at the University of Wyoming studying Agricultural Business and Land Surveying, interested in pursuing a career in land surveying. This summer, Gavin gained hands-on experience and learned from the company’s knowledgeable, supportive team. He appreciated everyone’s willingness to answer questions, share their experience, and include him in a variety of projects and fieldwork. Gavin enjoyed working alongside a team that was always willing to teach him and help him throughout the internship. The internship gave Gavin the opportunity to build his surveying skills while learning more about the profession and the work involved in the field.

Gavin says, “My internship gave me valuable hands-on experience and helped me learn more about the surveying profession”
