Last month, we held the 2025 Longevity Awards, an annual event that brings the WLC team together to celebrate our employees and their hard work and dedication as they reach milestones in their careers. Each person marking milestones in five-year increments with WLC receives a Longevity Award. The Award is a demonstration of our appreciation and the incredible value we have for our employees. This year, we are celebrating:

Jim Power, Engineering Technician, 5 Years
Darlette Schmidt, Rawlins Office Manager, 15 years with WLC, but 39 years at the same desk!

To continue the Longevity Awards tradition, our team spent the lunch hour enjoying good food and great company. This year, we were also thrilled to celebrate our intern, who just completed his second summer internship with WLC. Recall that last year, WLC recognized Jace Brezina, who worked diligently in his internship role, receiving extensive hands-on training and gaining valuable experience as a civil engineering and land surveyor in Wyoming. The entire WLC team has enjoyed having Jace with us the past two summers, and we hope to have him return next summer as well.

This summer, Jace furthered his understanding of what the job looks like on a day-to-day basis. He gained experience in materials testing and received an introduction to land surveying, which will greatly contribute to his pursuit of a minor in surveying. Jace has since left to return to the University of Wyoming, where he will continue pursuing his degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Surveying. He is set to graduate in 2027.

While WLC recognized our team’s career milestones, we also celebrated the return of a former team member, Nate Velasquez. Nate previously worked with WLC for several years as a materials testing technician and has rejoined in the same role. Nate moved to Kansas with his family in 2017 and has recently moved back to Wyoming.  WLC is proud to celebrate our employees who consistently add value to our company and deliver exceptional work every year. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Jim and Darlette’s achievement, as well as Jace and Nate’s roles on our team. WLC can provide outstanding work each day thanks to the dedication of our team.
