WLC Providing Civil Engineering Design Services for Casper State Office Building

WLC Engineering and Surveying is providing the civil engineering design services for the Casper, Wyoming State Office Building. These services include land surveying; site and infrastructure design including water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and surfacing; and construction administration.

Currently, the design team, including Stateline No. 7 Architects, Tallgrass Landscaping, and WLC, is working to finalize the site design drawings. The building will be located along Collins Drive adjacent and to the north of Natrona County High School. Demolition should begin this year with the building scheduled for completion in late 2021.

The three-story structure will be located on approximately 11 acres of land and includes 110,000 square feet of usable space, a parking lot, and outdoor spaces. Consolidating a number of state agencies located in Casper, including the Department of Workforce Services, Department of Family Services, Department of Corrections, Department of Health, Department of Revenue, Department of Environmental Quality, and the State Engineers Office and several others, under one roof, the new facility will house nearly 400 employees. This will alleviate the need for the State to rent or own multiple offices around the area.

The facility will also offer room to grow in the future if necessary. A primary focus of the design has been placed on creating a space that fits the feel of the surrounding area, is practical and functional, and will meet the needs of the State for decades into the future.

The civil engineering design is also structured to encourage walking and biking. The existing Rails to Trails path will be incorporated into the open space outside of the building. The community and pathway users will be welcome to enjoy the path and outdoor spaces on the facility’s property.
