Corporate President, Principal-in-Charge, Senior Project Manager. Shane Porter, P.E. has collected many titles at WLC; the first that includes overseeing the overall direction of the company since 2017. However, his extensive experience with the company and in the industry goes much farther back.
Born and raised in Casper, Shane received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming in 1997. After working for an environmental/groundwater engineering firm for several years, Shane pursued a career with WLC Engineering and Surveying, a larger firm with more opportunity for growth. Shane joined WLC in 2004. Just five years into his position, he accepted an ownership offer in the company, and eight years after that he was entrusted with the position of President and CEO of the oldest and longest standing engineering firm in the State of Wyoming.
As President, Shane provides leadership and guidance to more than 30 employees located in three Wyoming offices and is a key driver of WLC’s operations and business. His 22 years in the industry have given him experience in engineering infrastructure designs including conceptual design, final design coordination reports, construction, and specification and bid documents preparation. He is also experienced in cost estimation, construction administration, construction management, materials testing reports review, and coordination with clients and regulatory agencies.
In addition to his role as President at WLC, Shane also currently serves as Town Engineer for the Town of Evansville. WLC has been the Contract Engineer and Planner for the Town of Evansville since 2003 and Shane manages WLC’s various services including civil and geotechnical engineering designs, surveying, field work, comprehensive GIS systems, and much more.
Realizing the importance of service and community involvement, Shane was elected to the Board of the Casper Area Economic Development Alliance in 2016 and was a graduate of the Leadership Wyoming Class of 2017. Shane is also currently coaching two youth baseball teams, getting to spend a lot of extra time with his son and many other great kids.
Growing up in Casper, Shane has always loved the outdoors and wide-open spaces offered by Wyoming. If Shane’s not in the office he’s likely on a Wyoming hunting trip, at a Cowboys game, or at his family cabin. He and his wife Brandy have two kids, Caitlin, 18, and Wyatt, 8.
