WLC was selected to provide surveying services and to create a reclamation plan for an abandoned oil well location in a remote area with steep and rocky terrain. Utilizing their Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), WLC was able to collect high-resolution imagery of the area surrounding the well pad quickly and efficiently. In addition, we were able to recover the land corners the same day resulting in lower costs to our client. On average, for every minute of flying, the UAV covers approximately one acre and collects 25 ½” high resolution images that are used to construct the 3D model of the area and the ortho-imagery. Having accurate topography of the surrounding area and the high-resolution image as a background made it easier to distinguish the disturbed area from the adjacent naturally steep areas when planning for reclamation.
