WLC ENGINEERING AND SURVEYING ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT
40-Year Employee, 8-Year President Don Davis, P.L.S. Announces Shane Porter, P.E. as Successor

CASPER, Wyo., March 11, 2016 – WLC Engineering and Surveying (WLC), a Wyo.-based full-service civil and geotechnical engineering, surveying, materials testing, grants writing, and GIS firm, today announces Shane Porter, P.E. as the company’s new president. Mr. Porter succeeds Don Davis, P.L.S. who has served as WLC’s president for the previous eight years and as a board of director since 1995. Mr. Porter was nominated and voted unanimously by WLC’s board of directors to serve in this position.

“I am confident Shane will be an excellent president and continue to push WLC forward as an industry leader throughout his presidency,” said Mr. Davis, outgoing president for WLC Engineering and Surveying. “He is a strong client and employee advocate and his work ethic, constant dedication, and ability to understand both the business and technical aspects of our industry, made him an easy choice for the position.”

In his new role, Mr. Porter will lead the board of directors in strategic company planning and management of all business aspects including operations, staff, finances, marketing, and technical capabilities. In addition, he will continue to serve WLC’s clients as a principal-in-charge and project manager on civil engineering projects.

Joining WLC in 2004 as a skilled civil engineer and project manager, Mr. Porter worked with clients to plan, design, and execute their projects. This role included managing all project staff, budgets, and resources for multiple, ongoing projects. He quickly became a leader in WLC’s civil engineering department and a key to the company’s business development and client retention strategies. After several years of hard work and dedication to WLC, Mr. Porter became a principal and owner in 2008. In 2011, he became Secretary of WLC’s Board of Directors, the five-person body responsible for driving our organization.

Mr. Davis will remain on the board of directors and a WLC employee until his scheduled retirement in September 2017. He has worked as a Professional Land Surveyor for WLC for more than 40 years and served as a board of director for 21 years. Additionally, Mr. Davis has been an integral part of the Casper community supporting various organizations and activities throughout his career. Currently, he serves as a Casper Area Economic Development Alliance (CAEDA) board of director and was a strong supporter of the latest One Cent Campaign. During the next 18 months, he will mentor and assist Mr. Porter in the transition into his new role.

“Don has been a loyal employee, a great leader, and an integral part of WLC’s direction and growth for many years, but especially the last eight,” said Mr. Porter, president of WLC Engineering and Surveying. “He led the drive to refocus our vision and today WLC is in a solid, strong position. I am truly honored to be chosen as the next president of WLC, and I look forward to working with Don in this transition. I couldn’t ask to learn from a better predecessor.”

Other partners include Jason Meyers, P.E., vice president, Greg Biggs, treasurer, and Brad Miskimins. Mr. Meyers and Mr. Biggs will remain in their current positions while Mr. Miskimins will move from board of director to secretary.
