WLC ENGINEERING AND SURVEYING ANNOUNCES NEW OWNER
First WLC Owner in Rawlins, Wyoming Office

CASPER, Wyo., August 15, 2016 – WLC Engineering and Surveying (WLC), a Wyo.-based full-service civil and geotechnical engineering, surveying, materials testing, grants writing, and GIS firm, today announces Doug Boyd, Office Manager and Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in WLC’s Rawlins office, as an owner of WLC. Mr. Boyd joins a six-person ownership group that represents and manages operations for WLC.

“Doug has shown tremendous work ethic and great leadership skills as he has developed the Rawlins office into a very successful extension of WLC,” said Shane Porter, president of WLC Engineering and Surveying. “Our existing board is confident he will be an asset to business operations and the continual success of our Rawlins office. Therefore, it was natural to offer him an ownership position.”

The impending retirement of Don Davis in 2017 will leave a surveyor void in the WLC ownership group. Existing board members wanted to ensure this critical service was represented in high level operations and also felt adding an owner from the Rawlins office solidifies the long-term, best interests of the office and WLC.

In his new role, Mr. Boyd will participate in ownership meetings assisting with the strategic direction of the company and collaborating to oversee all business aspects including operations, staff, finances, marketing, and technical capabilities. In addition, he will continue to manage all areas of the Rawlins office including project acquisition, client service, project management, employee relations, risk mitigation and liability reduction. Concurrently, Mr. Boyd will remain a Licensed Professional Surveyor in Rawlins executing various construction, boundary, ALTA and other survey projects.

Mr. Boyd graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelors in Surveying Engineering in 1997. Prior to joining WLC, he worked with two firms in Michigan where he was initially licensed. In 2009, Mr. Boyd was recruited by Martin Pedersen with Robert Jack Smith, now WLC, who he assisted for several summers in Rawlins while completing multiple projects for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Army Corps of Engineers. He joined WLC full time in 2012 as a Licensed Professional Surveyor and Rawlins Office Manager.

Other partners include Shane Porter, P.E., president; Jason Meyers, P.E., vice president; Greg Biggs, treasurer; Brad Miskimins, secretary; and Don Davis, P.L.S., board member.
