WLC Engineering and Surveying was hired by Reshaw Development to provide civil engineering, land surveying, construction contract administration, and materials testing to design and construct a 103-lot residential subdivision. The project included water, storm sewer and sanitary sewer design. Sanitary sewer service required the installation of a new lift station. The new lift station also required WLC complete a study of a downstream lift station to ensure adequate capacity for the new lots. The subdivision was located near the North Platte River with high groundwater in the northerly portion of the lots. Installation of the lift station was completed with groundwater dewatering and sealing of the manhole. The subdivision was also designed to be located out of the floodplain, however new FEMA maps were issued in 2015 placing some lots within the 100-year floodplain. WLC worked with the developer completing CLOMR’s and LOMR’s to remove all or portions of the lots from the 100-year floodplain. The developer was able to successfully sell lots with no or reduced rate flood insurance coverage.
