WLC was hired by the City of Casper to enlarge an existing detention reservoir located on Eastdale Creek. The existing detention reservoir capacity was enlarged from approximately 11.7 acre-ft to 34 acre-ft. WLC provided the civil engineering, surveying, permitting, materials testing and construction contract administration services. Educational signage was designed by WLC and installed behind the existing Frontier Middle School and along the adjacent pathway. The enlargement of the detention reservoir caused existing wetlands to be destroyed. WLC worked with a sub-consultant to delineate the existing wetlands and permit the reestablishment of just over 5 times the original wetlands area. Also part of the project was the update of the FEMA Flood maps reflecting the drainage improvements. To update the FEMA flood maps, WLC worked with a sub consultant to complete and a CLOMR and LOMR for the new detention reservoir. In lowering the reservoir, WLC worked with the City to relocate the existing material to an adjacent lot, allowing the City to complete the project at a much lower overall cost.
