WLC Welcomes Rawlins Office Project Manager, Dan Ferrin, P.E.!

WLC is proud to announce the hiring of Dan Ferrin, P.E., who joined the Rawlins team earlier this month as Project Manager. Dan brings over 14 years of experience in municipal construction projects, including water, sewer, storm sewer and street reconstruction, landfill well monitoring, water meter installations, and street widening and overlay projects.

It’s been almost nine years since WLC Engineering and Surveying became a local business in Rawlins and as Wyoming’s longest-standing engineering and surveying firm we’ve never looked back!  Since acquiring Robert Jack Smith & Associates, Inc. (RJS), a surveying firm founded in the mid 1950’s, in September 2010, WLC has provided land surveying, civil engineering and materials testing on a number of projects in Carbon County including the Rawlins High School, Pick Bridge Erosion Control, and many Sinclair Refinery projects as well as many others.

WLC Gathering Kicks Christmas Holiday Off Right

A WLC gathering for all employees was held at the Tate Pump House adjacent to the North Platte River in Casper on December 14 to kickoff the Christmas season. Armor’s catered the event providing delicious food and drinks and the entertainment included a white elephant pong game, a Christmas story gift exchange and good company and conversation. Highlights of the evening were the Rawlins team showing up in ugly Christmas sweaters and Christine, Casper front office administrator, receiving the “Terminator” stick to supplement Darlette’s, Rawlins office administrator, “Motivator” stick.

Brad Holwegner Completes Benefit-Cost Analysis Training for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grants

Brad Holwegner, project manager and design engineer for WLC Engineering and Surveying’s Casper office completed a Benefit-Cost Analysis Training through the Homeland Security Training Program on June 13, 2018. This vocational certification is required for any entities seeking Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grants. This training enables WLC to seek, obtain and administer FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grants on behalf of federal, state, local or tribal entities. Read more →

WLC Hosts 2017 Employee Christmas Gatherings

There’s no better time than the holiday season to recognize and celebrate WLC’s dedicated team than at our employee Christmas gatherings. During the week of December 11, WLC held Christmas gatherings for the employees in their Casper and Rawlins offices. WLC provided the food and employees came together to prepare and serve the lunches. The WLC team enjoyed smoked prime rib, baked potatoes, salad, and good company. Steve Langwell, Survey Technician, Joins WLC’s Rawlins Survey Team

In September 2017, WLC Engineering and Surveying hired Steven Langwell as a survey technician to join the Rawlins survey team. His is responsible for providing surveying support at the Sinclair Wyoming Refinery and other projects throughout Carbon County. He completed OSHA 10 training in September 2017.

Steven has eight years of surveying experience prior to joining WLC. He worked for a survey and engineering firm in southern California as a party chief, he gained experience with boundary and cadastral, property, construction layout and topographic surveys. In this role, he was responsible for many different projects including grading plans, road construction and minor sub-divisions.

When he isn’t working, he enjoys outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, shooting and hunting. Additionally, he enjoys spending time with his fiancé, Brianna.

Don Davis, Past President of WLC, Retires After 40 Years with Company

Mr. Don Davis, P.L.S, past president of WLC, retired from WLC on June 30, 2017. Throughout his 40-year career with the company, he served as an employee, department manager, owner, board of director, and president. Since his resignation as president in March 2016, Mr. Davis has provided support and direction as Shane Porter transitioned into this role for WLC. Mr. Porter succeeded Don Davis, P.L.S. who served as WLC’s president from 2008-2016 and as a board of director since 1995.

Employee Certification & New Equipment Adds Drone Capabilities to WLC’s Resume

Joe Salveson, senior surveyor and CAD Technician for WLC Engineering and Surveying received his Remote Pilot Airman Certificate with Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) Rating from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on March 3, 2017. This certification and the purchase of a sUAS will enable WLC to provide a new survey and inspection tool to our clients. Read more →
