It’s been almost nine years since WLC Engineering and Surveying became a local business in Rawlins and as Wyoming’s longest-standing engineering and surveying firm we’ve never looked back!  Since acquiring Robert Jack Smith & Associates, Inc. (RJS), a surveying firm founded in the mid 1950’s, in September 2010, WLC has provided land surveying, civil engineering and materials testing on a number of projects in Carbon County including the Rawlins High School, Pick Bridge Erosion Control, and many Sinclair Refinery projects as well as many others.

Civil Engineering Perspective: 2019 to Continue 2018’s Upward Trend

2018 saw solid growth in Wyoming’s economy after the last economic downturn. While our economy wasn’t booming again, we saw a nice upward trend in the energy sector.  In the third quarter of 2018, projects related to mineral extraction were on the rise creating more revenue for our state.

WLC Secures City of Casper Highland Park Cemetery Addition, Phase II Project

WLC Engineering and Surveying was awarded the Highland Park Cemetery Addition, Phase II project by the City of Casper. WLC Gathering Kicks Christmas Holiday Off Right

A WLC gathering for all employees was held at the Tate Pump House adjacent to the North Platte River in Casper on December 14 to kickoff the Christmas season. Armor’s catered the event providing delicious food and drinks and the entertainment included a white elephant pong game, a Christmas story gift exchange and good company and conversation. Highlights of the evening were the Rawlins team showing up in ugly Christmas sweaters and Christine, Casper front office administrator, receiving the “Terminator” stick to supplement Darlette’s, Rawlins office administrator, “Motivator” stick.

Celebrating 70 Years in Business, WLC Looks Back & Forward

Celebrating 70 years in business, WLC Engineering and Surveying (WLC) continues to provide services to Wyoming residents, businesses and governments just as it did in 1948.

Don Davis, WLC’s past president, retired in 2017 after more than 40 years with the company. He was part of WLC’s 5th generation of ownership and shared some thoughts about why he thinks WLC is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

“WLC has always held true to the values of professionalism and integrity,” said Davis. “After 70, years clients know that’s what they’ll always get from WLC. We have always had a commitment to excellence and known there’s only one way to do something, and that’s the right way.” Read more →

Brad Holwegner Completes Benefit-Cost Analysis Training for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grants

Brad Holwegner, project manager and design engineer for WLC Engineering and Surveying’s Casper office completed a Benefit-Cost Analysis Training through the Homeland Security Training Program on June 13, 2018. This vocational certification is required for any entities seeking Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grants. This training enables WLC to seek, obtain and administer FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grants on behalf of federal, state, local or tribal entities. Read more →
